Reel Thought’s latest film. “Ain El Hilweh” follows the story of Mohammad, a young Palestinian living in the largest refugee camp in Lebanon, as he struggles to make a difficult decision. 22 years old and the only son in his family, Mohammad wants to leave the camp in search of a better future, but finds himself held back by difficult circumstances.

The following short films highlight some of the work of Arab venture philanthropy organisation Alfanar. Alfanar provides financial support, management guidance and volunteer technical expertise to social purpose organisations in the Arab region working to combat poverty, protect women’s and children’s rights, increase access to education and healthcare, and more. The clips below encapsulate some of Alfanar’s work on the ground with its partners in Egypt..

On Alfanar’s work with Wadi El Nil, an organisation in Minia, Egypt dedicated to protecting workers and combating child labour in the quarries sector.

Subject  Leave To Remain

This film follows the story of Algerian immigrant Hicham Yezza. Hicham was arrested in the summer of 2008 by the Home Office, under suspicions of having been involved in a terror crime. Hicham was threatened with deportation and detained for several weeks in an immigration detention facility. To this day, there is no evidence of his having committed a crime that falls under the Terrorism Act.
“Leave To Remain” is Tamara’s first documentary film. It was broadcast internationally on Orbit News Network in March 2009.
